About Chongwe Child Development Agency

Chongwe Child Development Agency (CCDA) is a nonprofit making, non-sectarian agency working for the survival, protection and wellbeing of children and youth in seven communities of Chongwe and Rufunsa districts namely; Mutamino, Chainda, Kapete, Chitemalesa, Chimusanya, Rufunsa and Mpanshya.

CCDA was established in 2010 as a federation of seven community associations, primarily to respond to the needs of Deprived, Excluded and Vulnerable (DEV) children, youth and caregivers in Chongwe and Rufunsa districts. The aim of the agency is to create an environment of hope and respect for the disadvantaged children and youth as well as create opportunities for them to achieve their full potential. 

Chongwe Child Development Agency is governed by a board comprising community members and technocrats from various government ministries. CCDA implements health, education, livelihood, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), water and sanitation and Sponsorship programs. The agency works with volunteers. 

To promote sustainability, CCDA thrives to build the capacity of boards, youth, and children through, trainings. The Agency believes that the interests of children are best served with guidance from local leadership to facilitate the creation of developing appropriate programs in line with local cultural norms. CCDA interventions target deprived, excluded and vulnerable children, youth and caregivers by providing them the opportunity to become responsible young adults, parents and leaders that bring lasting and positive change in their communities. The Agency supports individuals and communities to participate in valuing, protecting and advancing the worth and rights of children.
